The Clutter Conundrum: How Clutter Affects Your Mood

Each person deserves to live in a healthy, clean, and energetic home; however, to achieve this you need be diligent in keeping your house in good condition. Remember that it is much easier to allow clutter to accumulate than trying to keep your home organized and clean. There are simple ways to make sure that you keep clutter at bay.

One clutter causer is mail. Stay on top of all your papers, documents, magazines, by throwing out anything outdated and useless.  If you have items and valuables which you haven’t used for a long time, but are still important, organize them and put them in clear boxes on a top shelf so that they are out of the way but still accesible if you need them. The clear box allows you to see what’s inside at a glance and will save you the time of taking down the boxes and rumaging through it to find what you are looking for.

Clutter Can Make You Feel Bad

If you notice that your house is filled with piles of papers, items, and “treasures” which you have to walk around every day to access your rooms, there is a huge chance that your physical and mental health are at risk. It could also mean that the amount of clutter is an underlying symptom of a much serious mental health problem, such as depression.

Most people are unaware of how much clutter can affect them. You may believe that the things inside your house are an asset, or might become an asset, once you have cleaned it up, repaired it, or properly organized it. But you need to understand that a disorganized and messy home can affect not only your physical health but your mental state as well. Clutter can make you feel isolated and alone, especially since you are ashamed to invite people over because of all the mess. A disorganized home can also make you feel tired, leading to chronic fatigue.

Some people have a very hard time getting rid of things even if they don’t really need them. If this is the case with you, put the things you don’t use often, but don’t want to part with, in storage sugests US Storage Centers. This way, you can can clear your home of clutter and still have access to the things you aren’t ready to part with.

Tiredness and Fatigue

A messy house is a visual and psychic drain, causing you unnecessary tiredness and fatigue. You need to understand that clutter creates a stagnant energy. Cleaning your house and freeing valuable space at home frees up the energy and releases new vitality into your body.

Hopelessness

A dirty house can make your feel hopeless. The overwhelming amount of clutter may make you feel that you can’t handle it all on your own. So you tend to give up because you feel hopeless about getting out of this situation. If you feel like you can’t do it on your own, seek help. You can ask family members, relatives, and friends to help you clean up your house and clean up your life in the process.

Embarrassment

You might feel ashamed to invite your family and friend over because you know that your house is a huge mess. If anyone turns up unannounced, you immediately go into a state of panic. This might result to a life of isolation and depression.

Stress

You might feel stressed out if you keep losing things in the piles of clutter, such as your keys, your bills, and other important items. This might lead to problems, such as constantly coming to work late because you can’t find your keys, or you miss paying the bills on time because you forgot about it, or because you can’t easily go around your house due to the piles of unnecessary items. Instead of being able to relax and unwind, a cluttered home will only cause stress and anxiety.

Now that you are aware of how clutter affects your mood and mental health, you need to do what you can to keep your house in good condition. You can always use innovative and creative storage solutions which will not only hide your things but it can also enhance your interior design. You can also get a storage unit where you can store unused items, equipments, and clothes to free up space at home.
